Positions for postdoctoral scholar are available in the Laboratory of Dr. Chonghui Cheng at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine to study signal transduction, tumor progression, and/or mRNA regulation. Current research in the Cheng lab focuses on the following areas:

1. Investigating the mechanism by which CD44 and its splice isoforms modulate signaling cascades. We are using molecular and cellular biological methods, in conjunction with bioinformatics and biochemical approaches, to dissect the signaling and effector pathways that link CD44 and downstream signaling pathways.

2. Dissecting the role of CD44 in cancer progression. We have developed mouse models to determine whether and how CD44 contribute to tumor progression in vivo. We will also explore the underlying mechanisms of CD44 in carcinogenesis.

3. Understanding mechanisms of gene regulation by alternative splicing. Recent results indicated that most genes in humans undergo alternative splicing, generating different splice isoforms that possess diverse functions. We are interested in determining signaling events that govern the change in alternative splicing, as well as the consequences of alternative splicing in affecting signaling and diseases. We are also interested in the role of microRNAs in tumorigenesis.

Successful applicants must have excellent experimental expertise in molecular and cell biology, RNA biology, and/or cancer research and should be highly motivated and career-oriented. To apply, please email a curriculum vitae and names/contact information of three references to:
