Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, is conducting from July 13-18, 2014 the 4th
Merck Serono Innovation Cup, an initiative offering a chance for advanced
students in life sciences and business administration programs to attend a
one-week training program with Merck Serono professionals.
Building talent today for tomorrow’s businesses is a strategic priority at
Merck. One way to achieve this is by contributing to the personal
development of talented post-graduate students who have the potential to
become top scientists and the leaders of tomorrow. During the Innovation
Cup 2014, 30 students will learn the fundamentals of Research and
Development within the pharmaceutical industry, the implications of
discovering and developing new drugs that address the unmet needs of
patients, and the requirements to successfully bring those drugs to the
market. The Summer Camp training week will take place in Darmstadt,
Germany, on July 13-18, 2014. In addition to attending the various
presentations, students will work on practical business cases in the areas
of Oncology, Immuno-Oncology, Autoimmune Diseases, Chemo- and
Bioengineering, Drug Formulation and Medical Devices/electronic Health.
Students will be given the opportunity to team up with peers and Merck
retired professionals to transform their most promising ideas into a
business plan. Each plan will be presented to a grand jury, comprised of
members of Merck’s senior management as well as external experts, who will
award a prize of EUR 10,000 to the team presenting the most convincing
plan.
The training program is open to students pursuing advanced master and Ph.D.
degrees in life sciences, as well as MBA students with a life science
background, from all over the world. Post doctoral fellows in these areas
can also apply. All travel and accommodation expenses will be paid by
Merck.
Please note: The Merck Serono Innovation Cup is not open to US Healthcare
Professionals.
We at Merck are interested to attract students from your institution to
this event. We approach you to ask for your support in making this
initiative known to students at your department, as well as other
